Instant Triple Talaq or talaq-e-bidat has been banned in India since 19th September 2018. The Indian Parliament passed the bill on 30th July 2018. This act has been politically controversial with stark and unrelenting opposition from eminent political moguls. Triple Talaq is a custom of divorce unique to the Islamic community. However, Triple Talaq is uncommon in practice but ubiquitous in essence, across religions. In the talaq-e-bidat , a man is provided with the power to divorce his wife instantaneously by saying Talaq thrice. For centuries, this practice has plagued women with innumerable problems with no respite for them.
